And this, too, shall pass. - Bible
This out of all will remain - They have lived and have tossed: So much of the game will be gain, Though the gold of the dice has been lost. - Jack London
So I guess this is where I tell you what I learned. My conclusion, right? Well, my conclusion is: hate is baggage. Life's too short to be pissed off all the time. It's just not worth it. Derek says it's always good to end a paper with a quote. Says someone else has already said it best so if you can't top it, steal from them and go out strong. So I picked a guy I thought you'd like. "We are not enemies, but friends. We must not be enemies. Though passion may have strained, it must not break our bonds of affection. The mystic cords of memory will swell when again touched, as they surely will be, by the better angels of our nature." - American History X (quoted from Second Inaugural Address of Abraham Lincoln)
SUCCESS By Bessie Anderson Stanley He has achieved success who has lived well, laughed often and loved much; who has enjoyed the trust of pure women, the respect of intelligent men and the love of little children; who has filled his niche and accomplished his task; who has left the world better than he found it, whether by an improved poppy, a perfect poem or a rescued soul; who has never lacked appreciation of Earth's beauty or failed to express it; who has always looked for the best in others and given them the best he had; whose life was an inspiration; whose memory a benediction. |

the Peacemaker Test finished! | you chose BX - your Enneagram type is NINE.
"I am at peace"
Peacemakers are receptive, good-natured, and supportive. They seek union with others and the world around them.
How to Get Along with Me
- If you want me to do something, how you ask is important. I especially don't like expectations or pressure.
- I like to listen and to be of service, but don't take advatage of this.
- Listen until I finish speaking, even though I meander a bit.
- Give me time to finish things and make decisions. It's OK to nudge me gently and nonjudgmentally.
- Ask me questions to help me get clear.
- Tell me when you like how I look. I'm not averse to flattery.
- Hug me, show physical affection. It opens me up to my feelings.
- I like a good discussion but not a confrontation.
- Let me know you like what I've done or said.
- Laugh with me and share in my enjoyment of life.
What I Like About Being a Nine
- being nonjudgmental and accepting
- caring for and being concerned about others
- being able to relax and have a good time
- knowing that most people enjoy my company; I'm easy to be around
- my ability to see many different sides of an issue and to be a good mediator and facilitator
- my heightened awareness of sensations, aesthetics, and the here and now
- being able to go with the flow and feel one with the universe
What's Hard About Being a Nine
- being judged and misunderstood for being placid and/or indecisive
- being critical of myself for lacking initiative and discipline
- being too sensitive to criticism; taking every raised eyebrow and twitch of the mouth personally
- being confused about what I really want
- caring too much about what others will think of me
- not being listened to or taken seriously
Nines as Children Often
- feel ignored and that their wants, opinions, and feelings are unimportant
- tune out a lot, especially when others argue
- are "good" children: deny anger or keep it to themselves
Nines as Parents
- are supportive, kind, and warm
- are sometimes overly permissive or nondirective

My grandmother had been having mini-strokes very recently, and today she had a proper one. I haven't seen her, but when I woke up this morning Mom was on the phone and asked Grampy if Grammy could talk, and I knew straightaway she'd had a stroke. So me, Mom, and Dad all went up to her house (she lives about an hour away from me) and I stayed home with Grampy while Mom and Dad went to the hospital. At the hospital, I'm told, she could not recognise my father ("Do I know you, sir?") and only recognised my mother by the sound of her voice. She cannot feel her left arm or leg (when she touches herself with her left arm, she believes someone else is touching her), and the left side of her mouth is turned up. As I understand it, the fact that she's affected on the left side of her body means the stroke was on the right side of her brain.
Anyway, she's in the hospital for a few nights and Grampy (who is both blind and deaf and cannot stay by himself) has come to stay with us.

You are 'Silent Night'! You really enjoy Christmas, and you like your Christmases conventional. For you, Christmas is about family and traditions, and you rather enjoy the rituals of going to church at midnight and turning off the lights before flaming the plum pudding. Although you find Christmas shopping frustrating, you like the excitement of wrapping and hiding presents, and opening a single door on the Advent Calendar each day. You like the traditional carols, and probably teach the children to sing along to them. More than anyone else, you will probably actually have a merry Christmas.
You know, except for it being the anniversary of my father's parent's deaths. *giggles but is sad*

Dear Santa...
Dear Santa,
This year I've been busy!
Last Sunday I caught a purse-snatcher who stole shinywhimsy's purse (30 points). Last Saturday I had a shoot-out with rival gang lords on the 5 near LA (-76 points). Last week I pulled over and changed swtalmnd's flat tire (15 points). In May I put gum in juice817's hair (-12 points). In July I gave change to a homeless guy (19 points).
Overall, I've been naughty (-24 points). For Christmas I deserve a spanking!
Sincerely, isidore13 |

HELL LEVEL 2 Raw score: 61% |
You're just about as deep in sexual hellfire as a person can get. Virtually no urge, however demented, will go ungratified; practically no boundary will go uncrossed. You're probably proud of your adventurousness, and, honestly, you should be. Few people are confident enough to pursue pleasure on their own terms.
Your morals could sink a bit further, sure, but it's likely that you've got a pretty good idea of what you're into and what you would do...above all you're honest with yourself with what you want. If more people were honest with themselves, you'd have a lot more company down in the flames.
AVOID: the lost souls in sexual heaven and (above all) the denizens of sexual purgatory. You don't need any prudes or wishy-washers in your life. |

...my parents don't care about me as much as they care about my sociopathic delinquent fuck of a brother. At least, my father doesn't. The jury is still out on mom, as she's not here right now. She'll be back home in about an hour.
And the truth is, they don't care about sister R or brother A as much as they care about brother P, either. Their lack of caring is just more immediate for me, now, as I'm sure it was for R and A (these siblings having moved out the first moment they could, as I will now be doing).
I don't know what they're thinking, helping him. It's not like me or R or A will be helping him when they're gone! He's not even welcome in R's house even to visit, and when I move out, I won't be wanting his assistance to do it! A dosn't know about all this yet, but I'm reasonably certain he doesn't really want P in his home, either. So the question is really, send him to jail now, let him start facing the consequences now, or he'll just have to face them later.
Frankly, too, I don't see why I should have to pay them back for what I borrowed when they aren't making P do it. I think making a few car payments and paying for a couple semesters of school (abut $5000 total) is much more reasonable than a $25,000 debt that keeps growing because they keep enabling him. I prolly won't say that to them for a while, but they're not going to take advantage of the fact that I care about them while they don't care about me anymore. I'm done with it. Let the son they care about do the chores and take care of thing. Oh, wait, you can't rely on him to do anything productive - that's why they turn to me.

Go to your icons page in Livejournal and look at the first two icons (the one on the right and the one on the left). Pair up the characters in the two icons. Go to the next two and do the same until you have a list of ships. Then...well, write 'em.( Meme! )
